Welcome to my class page! My name is Kim Baert-McGee (Mrs. McGee to all my students), and I am thrilled to be teaching music at St.Agnes Cathedral. I have a Master of Science degree in Music Education from Hofstra University. Most recently I was the permanent substitute teacher at Brook Avenue Elementary school in Bayshore . Prior to Brook Avenue, while my daughter was young, I had taught music classes part time for nine years at a Montessori school in Bayshore, was the long term substitute teacher at the Greenvale school and also held part time classes at a private piano studio in Melville.
In addition to teaching I have been an adjudicator for NYSSMA piano solos and I have volunteered my musical talents at my parrish at St Patricks in Bayshore teaching music classes for their faith camp and playing piano at Christmas pageant. This summer I taught piano classes at Usdan Performing Arts Camp.
I will teach the importance of Catholicism through liturgical music in my everyday classroom environment. I will share prayer videos, celebrate Catholic holidays through music, and prepare the children for monthly school liturgies.
When I am not teaching at school , I enjoy skiing, playing tennis with my daughter, going to the beach, going to mass with my family and playing piano.
I welcome the opportunity to inspire your children through music and look forward to the promising school year ahead.
